Mahathir bin Mohamad on the Contemporary World

In 2013, the Institute of Far Eastern Studies (IFES) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, under support of the Russia-Malaysia Business Council and active participation of its Malaysian representative, Ultimate Overseas Consultancy Sdn.Bhd., has published a book entitled Mahathir bin Mohamad on the Contemporary World: A Conversation with Vitaly Naumkin.

This book was the product of IFES Director Vitaly Naumkin’s visit to Putrajaya, where he managed to meet the father of the ‘Malaysian miracle’ Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, discuss the most topical global issues with him, speak about the role of Islam in the modern world, and Malaysia’s historical experience and current model of development.

The book contains an account of the conversation in Russian, English, Malay and Arabic, and offers a biography of Dr. Mahathir, written by the head of the Russia-Malaysia Business Council, Vladimir Sautov.

The book was presented in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 3, during the opening ceremony of the World Chinese Economic Forum in front of the large audience consisting of more than 300 representatives of local and foreign business and political communities. On behalf of the Business Council for Cooperation with Malaysia its Chairman Dr. V. Sautov and V. Naumkin, book’s author, handed the book and a token over to Mahathir bin Mohamad.

The ceremony was held with participation of H.E. Mrs. Lyudmila Vorobyeva, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Malaysia.
